The collision, between a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and a Ford Explorer SUV, happened at Rocky Fork Road and Old Nashville Highway.

A Smyrna Police Department sergeant confirmed the details of a tragic two-vehicle wreck that occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. The collision, between a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and a Ford Explorer SUV, happened at Rocky Fork Road and Old Nashville Highway. It resulted in the Ford rolling over and coming to rest upside down on the road.

Four Individuals Taken to Hospital

A female motorist was driving the Ford Explorer when the accident happened. Her husband and two boys were passengers in the vehicle. All four family members required transport to Stone Crest Medical Center, but one child did not survive the crash, according to The Tennessean.

Arrest for Driving Without a License

The SPD spokesperson stated that officers believed that neither boy was wearing a seat belt. The male motorist that had been behind the wheel of the pickup truck was subsequently arrested for operating the vehicle without a license. He was not injured. An investigation into just how the accident happened is ongoing.

Although an investigation into the cause or causes of this fatal accident is not yet complete, Tennessee state statutes do allow victims of car accidents to seek compensation when another party has engaged in negligent conduct. Some cases do go to trial, although settlements with insurers often occur without a trial. Compensation is commonly sought for unpaid medical expenses, pain-and-suffering and possible lost wages.
